Delhi election authorities issued notices to prominent figures including LK Advani, Manish Sisodia, Rekha Gupta, and Arvind Kejriwal over discrepancies in SIR enumeration forms. Over 3.16 million voters received notices, with most linked to no mapping or logical discrepancies. The final roll is due by November 4.

Delhi election authorities have issued notices to prominent figures including LK Advani, Manish Sisodia, Rekha Gupta, and Arvind Kejriwal over discrepancies in their details during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The notices were issued to over 3.16 million voters, with most linked to either no mapping or logical discrepancies in their enumeration forms.
The notices were issued as part of the SIR exercise, which aims to verify voter details against the 2002 electoral roll. According to officials, the process involves checking whether voters’ details match previous records. LK Advani, a former deputy prime minister, and his daughter Pratibha, daughter-in-law Geetika, and son Jayant were among those issued notices. Jayant cleared the mapping exercise, while the others were flagged for discrepancies. Manish Sisodia, former Delhi deputy chief minister, was also issued a notice, though the reason was not specified. His wife Seema and son Meer were flagged for self-name and parent-name mismatches, respectively.
Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal were also among those served notices. Gupta’s entry was validated after verification of her documents, and her name was cleared for inclusion in the final electoral roll. Kejriwal and his family were flagged for no mapping, with their details not matching the last SIR. The final roll is scheduled to be published on November 4, with the election authorities required to decide on all notices by October 29.
The SIR process has led to a significant reduction in the number of voters listed in the draft roll. The draft roll published on August 31 listed 9.75 million names, a drop from 14.5 million as of the June 30 roll. The notices have sparked criticism from political parties, with AAP spokesperson Anurag Dhanda questioning how Kejriwal’s family could be missing from the voter list. The BJP, meanwhile, criticized Kejriwal for not filling the SIR form correctly.
The election authorities have also issued notices to other public figures, including Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal and Delhi BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj. The process allows voters to correct their details or challenge wrongful inclusions through forms 6, 7, and 8. The number of polling stations in Delhi has increased from 13,033 to 14,947 following rationalisation across all 70 assembly constituencies.
Delhi chief electoral officer Ashok Kumar said the SIR dates were revised due to pendency, and a review is planned next week to determine if the dates need to be extended. The process continues as authorities work to finalize the electoral roll for the upcoming elections.
