As part of the world-famous Mysore Dussehra, the Women's Dussehra program organized by the Mysore City Women and Children's Dussehra Committee was inaugurated by the District In-charge Minister Dr. Yatindra Siddaramaiah at the J.K. Ground in the city.
At the event, Ministers C. Puttaranga Shetty, MLA Harish Gowda, President of the Women's Development Corporation Padmavati, Deputy Chairman of the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Chairman of the Mysore Zoo Authority Hadya Rangaswami, and others were present.
Later, Dr. Yatindra Siddaramaiah said that the state festival Dussehra, which is a symbol of victory, is celebrated as a representation of the state's culture, tradition, art, and literature. In our culture, women are worshipped as deities in the form of Chamundeshwari. Even though women have not received equal opportunities in the past, if they get the right opportunities, their power will be proven.
Women are the strength of the society and the pillar of the family, and they should get more opportunities in all fields. Great leaders like Buddha, Basavanna, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar have fought for women's equality, and today women have attained high positions through the Constitution, he said.
C. Puttaranga Shetty said that several programs have been planned to unveil the talent of women. Women coming from various districts including Mysore should actively participate in this Dussehra festival, forget their dress codes, and enjoy the festival freely.
