In view of low rainfall in Jhabua district, a district-level workshop was held for crop planning and resource management for the Rabi season 2026-27. Training was provided to the agriculture department's field staff on contingency planning. The workshop advised farmers to adopt crops like chickpea, lentil, and mustard that require less water and to select weather-friendly varieties. Emphasis was also placed on moisture conservation in fields, seed treatment, balanced fertilizer use, crop residue management, and proper use of available irrigation water. The agriculture department will organize water melas in the district from 12 to 16 October to provide technical guidance to farmers. Information on drought-resistant chickpea varieties and wheat varieties that mature in a shorter period will also be provided. Agricultural scientists and officials provided guidance to farmers on timely sowing, natural farming, micro-irrigation, crop insurance, and price compensation schemes.
