EcoFlow releases smaller power stations with higher energy capacity
EcoFlow introduces fourth-gen power stations with increased energy storage and efficiency, set for 2026-2027 release.

EcoFlow has unveiled its fourth-generation River series, featuring power stations that are smaller yet more energy-dense than previous models. The River 260 Gen4 and River 520 Gen4 are designed to provide more power in a compact form, making them suitable for outdoor activities and emergency situations. The River 260 Gen4 has a 256Wh battery capacity, while the River 520 Gen4 offers 512Wh, which is approximately 2.5 times and 5 times the energy of the largest airline-approved power banks, respectively. These power stations utilize LFP battery chemistry, which is known for its longer lifespan and reduced volatility compared to other battery types.
The River 260 Gen4 includes four USB ports and can deliver up to 300W of continuous power through its AC jack. The River 520 Gen4, on the other hand, has the same USB port configuration but offers two AC jacks capable of delivering 500W of continuous output. Both models are praised for their high energy density, which allows them to be lighter and more compact than similar products on the market. This makes them ideal for camping trips or field work. The River 520 Gen4 is powerful enough to run a standard US fridge for about four hours during a power outage.
EcoFlow has also incorporated features to improve efficiency and usability. The power stations can act as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for computers, with a cutover time of less than 10 milliseconds. They include a 140W USB-C PD3.1 port that supports bidirectional charging, allowing users to charge the power stations directly from a USB-C wall charger or a portable solar panel without the need for a separate charging brick. This feature enhances convenience and reduces the number of accessories required.
One common issue with power stations is that they can drain if left idling for extended periods. EcoFlow has addressed this by optimizing the energy conversion process from DC to AC, which helps preserve more watt-hours for charging devices such as drones, bike computers, and phones, or for running a Starlink Mini and a compact fridge. The River 260 Gen4 will be available in Europe starting in Q4 2026, while the River 520 Gen4 is expected to be released in Q1 2027. Pricing details for both models will be announced closer to their global release dates.
The River series represents a significant advancement in portable power solutions, combining compact design with substantial energy capacity. These power stations are positioned as versatile tools for both everyday use and emergency preparedness, offering users a reliable source of power in a variety of scenarios.
